Apcalis is known for having a long duration of action of approximately 36 hours. So, it is also known as the weekend pill by numerous people because men consuming it can have multiple sexual intercourses during the duration of its action. Though apcalis is similar to Sildenafil, it has gained more popularity due to this feature of having a long duration of action.

• More potent than Sildenafil and hence, used at dose of 20mg in contrast to Sildenafil which is used at a dose of 100 mg.

Working of Apcalis:

Penile erection occurs only if there is an inflow of blood in the penile arteries. When the PDE5 enzyme shows its action in the body, it leads to lowering of Nitric Oxide levels in the body. This also leads to the lowering of cGMP enzyme in the body which is responsible for dilation and contraction of the blood vessels which carry the blood to and from the penis. This is what restricts blood flow to the penis and leads to ED in men.

When Apcalis is taken, Tadalafil, which is the active component in the medicine inhibits the action of the enzyme PDE5 after getting dissolved in the blood stream. When this occurs, the Nitric Oxide levels in the body increase and gets released into the penis. This Nitric Oxide, leads to increase in the production of cGMP enzyme which controls the dilation and relaxation of the blood vessels which carry blood to and from the penis. When cGMP levels in the body is high, it causes the arteries which carry blood to the penis to dilate and the muscles to relax. This leads to more blood to flow into the penis and less blood to flow out. • This medicine is available in doses of 2.5 mg, 5 mg, 10 mg, and 20 mg.

How to use Apcalis?

• Apcalis for ED issues can be used only by adults over the age of 18.
• This tablet is supposed to be taken around 20 minutes before sexual intercourse.
• The maximum dose of Apcalis is 20mg.
• The patient has to compulsorily maintain a gap of at least 30 hours between two subsequent doses.
• Men who want to be sexually active at least twice a week should take a daily dose of not more than 5mg.
• This medicine is a prescription drug and should be taken only after a doctor’s approval.

Precautions of Apcalis:

• Do not use on a regular basis as it causes psychological dependence and addiction
• A gap of 30 hours is necessary between two consequent doses of Apcalis
• It necessary to consult a doctor before starting with Apcalis therapy as it is prescription medicine.
• Avoid excess alcohol, tobacco or grapefruit products when on this medicine.
• Do not take nitrate containing drugs and alpha blockers when using this drug. Dose reduction for Apcalis is needed if a patient is on stable therapy of alpha blockers and this combination is to be used with caution in such patients.
• Do not take it with any other PDE5 inhibitor.
• Avoid outdoor activities after taking Apcalis.
• Strictly prohibited in women and children.
• Do not overdose

Side effects of Apcalis:

• Nausea
• Headache
• Vomiting
• Nasal congestion
• Muscle pain
• Breathing difficulties
• Chest pain
• Sweating

These are the common side effects which tend to diminish once you get used to this medicine.

Warnings of Apcalis:

• Do not use Apcalis if sex is inadvisable due to cardiac status
• Use of this medicine with alpha blockers, antihypertensives or substantial amounts of alcohol (≥5 units) may lead to hypotension
• Apcalis is not recommended in combination with alpha blockers for the treatment of BPH because efficacy of the combination has not been adequately studied and because of the risk of blood pressure lowering. Caution is advised when Apcalis is used as a treatment for ED in men taking alpha blockers. Dose reduction of this medicine is required in such cases.
• If an erection lasts >4 hours, emergency medical assistance should be sought. Use APCALIS with caution in patients predisposed to priapism
• Stop using Apcalis in an event of sudden loss of Vision
• Patients should stop Apcalis and seek prompt medical attention in the event of sudden decrease or loss of hearing or vision
